Bishop CreekSPRING / SUMMER
The Eastern Sierra hosts a variety of bubbling brooks which cascade out of the deepest most beautiful canyons. Most are fed by runoff while some are fed by glaciers which is reflected by the unique colour of the water. Wild Browns, Rainbows, Golden Trout and Golden/Rainbow Hybrids abound in these streams and they can provide some of the most intimate fly fishing experiences around.
While most are accessible by vehicle, the quality of the fishing experience can improve drastically if one wishes to hike off the beaten path on foot. Ultra light fly rods usually 2wts down to a Owt are the preferred equipment here. Unlike most rivers the fish in these creeks are always willing to smack a dry fly, hatch or not. Stimulators, large stone patterns, and various attractor dries such as Royal Wulffs and Humpys are just a few of the patterns we will tie on. Large fish reside in these streams that can leave an angler shaking his head after a hookup with one of these fish on small water.
