Hot Creek
SPRING / SUMMERThis trout-dense, well known Brown and Rainbow trout water is a classic spring creek formed by the joining of various hot and cold springs that run together to form the perfect trout rich environment. With DFG estimates of 11,000-12,000 trout per mile it is one of the most highly populated streams in North America. The nutrient rich water hosts an unbelievable insect population that produces some type of insect hatch nearly everyday, including Caddis, and many different types of Mayflies.
Hot Creek contains nearly every type of fishing water, including traditional riffles, runs, pools, and various seams where the trout stack up side by side and head to tail. Fish here range in size from 10" all the way up to 25"+ making each cast intense with anticipation of what will bite next. A true treasure of the eastern sierra this stream has something to challenge even the most experience angler. Hot Creek is tightly managed by the Mono county forest service requiring a special use permit and I run the trip through a local shop with a special use permit.
