The Lower Owens river is a classic tailwater located just outside of Bishop flows out of Pleasant Valley Reservoir at an elevation of around 4000 ft. Boasting a very high trout population per mile comparable to some of the big name streams across the country, this water fly fishes best in the Fall, Winter and Spring. The rich calcium banks render the Lower Owens highly fertile which supports in turn large populations and numbers of many different aquatic insects. Hatches on this river can come off like clockwork making for action packed reliable dry fly fishing!
